Queering Femininity: a look at ANU Sociology graduate Hannah McCann's first book
Monday 14 May 2018

ANU Sociology graduate Dr Hannah McCann published her first book this year, titled Queering Femininity: Sexuality, Feminism and the Politics of Presentation. The book, published with Routledge in the Feminism, Femininity and Female Sexuality series, explores femininity as a style of gender presentation and asks how (and whether) it can be refigured as a creative and queer style of the body.

Dr McCann, now a lecturer in Gender Studies at the University of Melbourne, is also currently working on a number of research projects focusing on LGBTIQ fan subcultures, beauty culture, and affective and aesthetic labour. She also blogs about everything related to gender and sexuality at binarythis.com  and you can follow her on Twitter @binarythis.

Hannah is the Gender Institute's inaugural PhD Scholar.
