Support for breastfeeding mothers in workplaces and childcare services at the ANU

Over a decade ago, leading female academics seeking greater gender equity called for universities to ‘bring babies and breasts into workplaces’. The ANU Gender Institute funded a study into support for breastfeeding mothers at Australia’s national university.

Are mothers still expected to breastfeed in toilet cubicles at the ANU? Would you like to know more?

The ANU Gender Institute and the Australian Breastfeeding Association will celebrate the ANU’s community of mothers and babies with a morning tea event, at Ivy and the Fox café (Old Canberra House, 73 Lennox Crossing, Acton ACT). Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Richard Baker will say a few words at the event.

This will be followed by a seminar on ‘Support for breastfeeding mothers in workplaces and childcare services at the Australian National University’ presented by study team leader and ARC Future Fellow Dr Julie Smith. The seminar will be held in the Acton Theatre (Crawford building).

The morning tea will be from 11am to 12pm, with the seminar following from 12:15pm to 1:15pm. All welcome. Please RSVPhere.
