International and cross discipline perspectives – education about violence against women

Meet a fabulous array of academic clinicians and academics and join ANU and international visitors for a day event focussed on violence against women, and participatory education for researchers, health workers and others working with women in violent situations. This event is designed for all researchers (especially PhD and masters students) and teachers working in the area and interested in linking with ANU colleagues and distinguished international academic clinicians who will be in Canberra for a concurrent meeting.

The day will include a series of short keynote addresses, led by Prof. Kelsey Hegarty, (Australian representative on WHO guidelines on health professional response to sexual and family violence) followed by a moderated panel and audience discussion. The afternoon will be workshop based, focussing on policy perspectives and frameworks for education and response to violence against women. This is an opportunity for researchers and teachers across the campus to briefly present and share their work. The workshops currently include Frameworks for education – students and community workers; Responsibilities when violence is disclosed and Partnerships between researchers and health providers.

This event is hosted by the ANU Gender Institute and supported by the ANU Medical College and the Wonca Working party on Women and Family Medicine (WWPWFM)

A light lunch will be included-RSVP to martina.fechner@anu.edu.au by Tuesday 4 September
