Antarctica: 76 female scientists at the end of the earth

If a trip to the southern tip of the world doesn’t teach you some life lessons, then I don’t know what will! Come along and hear some important life lessons like never get too close to an iceberg, it pays to sit quietly by yourself in the middle of a penguin colony, blue is the most constructive colour and we can’t just keep playing the game, we need to change the game. I will discuss these lessons and more from my experiences on board the first of 10 Homeward Bound leadership experiences in Antarctica. I’ll talk about why programs supporting women in science like this are vital and will share some of the tools and strategies that we were taught on board. Finally, I will do my best to share how absolutely beautiful, inspiring and awesome (in the true meaning of the word) Antarctica is.

This event is supported by the ANU Gender Institute.
