Young Women’s Budget Briefing

YWCA Australia and The ANU Gender Institute were proud to present the 2015 Young Women’s Budget Briefing.

This live social media panel event offered young women an accessible explanation of the federal budget process and its political function, a roundup of the new measures that affected women and the opportunity to ask questions about the current budget and its effects.

See below for event summary and video of panel.

The panel was made up of a combination of speakers from academia, the not-for-profit sector and media. They took a range of pre-set questions on varied themes that spoke to their areas of expertise and interest.

Panel members were:

  • Professor Miranda Steward Director of the Tax and Transfer Policy Institute of The ANU’s Crawford School
  • Dr Caroline Lambert Executive Officer of YWCA Canberra
  • Hannah Gissane Project Coordinator of the Equality Rights Alliance
  • Yen Eriksen of YWCA Australia and member of the 2SER budget correspondence team.

The panel discussion was followed by a lively question time incorporating those who attended in person and online over the live stream. Many joined the conversation online by tweeting @YWCAaus
