Transnational Asian and Australian perspectives: Professor Meaghan Morris, keynote

Professor Meaghan Morris (Dept. Gender and Cultural Studies, Univ. Sydney) will be the keynote speaker at this seminar on “CULTURAL STUDIES & QUEER STUDIES: TRANSNATIONAL ASIAN AND AUSTRALIAN PERSPECTIVES” to mark the publication of three recent Hong Kong University Press books on transnational cultural studies and queer studies:

  • Creativity and Academic Activism: Instituting Cultural Studies (HKUP 2012), Prof. Meaghan Morris, co-editor.
  • Queer Singapore: Illiberal Citizenship and Mediated Cultures (HKUP 2012) Assoc. Prof. Audrey Yue, editor and also contributor to “Creativity and Academic Activism”.
  • Queer Bangkok: 21st Century Markets, Media and Rights (HKUP 2011) Prof. Peter Jackson (ANU), editor.

In this seminar-cum-book launch, Prof. Morris will be joined by Assoc. Prof. Audrey Yue (Cultural Studies, Melbourne Univ.) and Prof. Peter Jackson (CHL, CAP), and each scholar will speak to the intellectual projects underpinning their recent books.
