She Leads workshop: Building confidence in public speaking

Speaking in public is an essential skill for study, work, advocacy, and business. For many of us, speaking in public can be stressful, and we may require assistance in learning to structure and present ourselves in job interviews and our workplaces.

This workshop will build your confidence by helping you to understand why speaking can make you anxious and how nerves can be counteracted. You will also learn the skills needed to structure, write, and deliver a speech.

It will be a fun, supportive, and interactive session. By the end of the session, you will have a chance to present a 3 to 5-minute talk, and build the confidence you need to present yourself in your professional environment.

This workshop is facilitated by Catherine McGrath, an experienced conference speaker and facilitator, award-winning journalist, and foreign correspondent. For 3 decades, Catherine has been one of Australia’s leading women broadcasters as Bureau Chief and Political Editor for SBS and ABC television, radio and online services. Earlier she was the ABC’s South East Asia Correspondent. Catherine presents conferences and facilitates events Australia wide. She also works with some of the country’s biggest companies and public-sector organisations in media and presentation training. She passionately believes it is important for women to be supported in developing speaking and communication skills and that Australia must broaden the number and scope of women who speak in the media and at conferences and events.

Tickets are available online.
