Sally Engle Merry masterclass: measuring human rights: the politics of quantification

The Centre for International Governance and Justice, RegNet, in conjunction with the Department of Gender, Media & Cultural Studies, School of Culture, History and Language, College ofAsia and the Pacific, are hosting a masterclass by renowned legal anthropologist, Professor Sally Engle Merry.

The masterclass will open with a talk by Sally on a major project she has been involved in on the measurement of human rights. Participants will then make a brief presentation on their work, followed by a round table conversation.

ANU PhD students and early career researchers are invited to participate in this masterclass.

Sally Engle Merry is Professor of Anthropology, Law and Society at New York University. Her work explores the role of law in urban life in the US, in the colonizing process, and in contemporary transnationalism.
