A rewarding career: personal perspectives of a scientist by Prof. Mahananda Dasgupta

The UNSW Women in Research Network would like to invite you to the keynote address of 2012. Australian Laureate Fellow Professor Mahananda (Nanda) Dasgupta is an international leader in accelerator-based nuclear fusion and fission. Nanda completed her PhD from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai, India, in 1992. She then joined the Department of Nuclear Physics at the Australian National University, and was awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Fellowship to pursue her research in the field of nuclear reaction dynamics. Developing novel experimental techniques, and driving theoretical collaborations, she played a key role in demonstrating the enormous effects of quantum properties of nuclei on reaction outcomes through measurements of unmatched precision. Her research has resulted in a fundamental change in the current understanding of accelerator based fusion and fission processes.
