*POSTPONED* MATE Bystander Program (LBGTIQ+)
The MATE Bystander Program aims to teach members of the community how to recognise abuse and how to take action to prevent abusive behaviour.
The Program challenges the root attitudes, beliefs and behaviours that normalise problematic behaviour, and creates a safe environment for people to share their opinions and experiences about these volatile issues. Participants are asked and supported to think critically and empathetically about these issues while participating in a dialogue about the dynamics and the context of all forms of violence.
The MATE program provides participants with the knowledge needed to recognise an issue, an understanding of the tools needed to effectively interrupt the behaviour, and the confidence and capacity to do so. Participants should finish the Program inspired to be proactive leaders in their communities.
