One billion rising

One in three women will experience violence in their lifetime - that’s one billion women! Show your commitment to cease the violence and be a part of an international initiative where one billion women and those that love them will walk out, dance, rise up and demand an end to the violence!

One Billion Rising is a global campaign that invites one billion women and those who love them to demand an end to violence. The ANU Gender Institute shares this goal and is pleased to be able to support this event.

ANU will support this global target at its own Canberra event at 1.30pm on 14 February at Union Court (parking available at North Road).  Proudly supported by many of our invaluable anti-violence organisations including the Domestic Violence Crisis Service, White Ribbon, Rape Crisis Centre and Womens Legal, the ANU would like to invite the members of the Canberra community to stand together and unite against the ongoing and unacceptable statistics of violence against women.

With guest speaker Mirjana Wilson, Executive Director of the Domestic Violence Crisis Centre, singing and music we will stand together to celebrate that we will not tolerate these alarming statistics in our community and beyond any more!
