Professor Margaret Jolly, Professor Hyaeweol Choi and Professor Kim Rubenstein.
A combined lunch farewell for Professor Hyaeweol Choi was held by the Gender Institute and the School of Culture, History and Language last Thursday.
Hyaeweol is the ANU-Korea Foundation Professor of Korean Studies. Her research spans gender, culture, religion and diaspora.
Hyaeweol will be much missed not just for her foundational scholarship, teaching and outreach on gender and religion in Korea and transnationally, but for her contribution to the Gender Institute. She was a long term convenor of the Gender and History node, and served on the Gender Institute Management Committee and our prizes subcommittees. She is returning to the United States where she will will be the C. Maxwell and Elizabeth M. Stanley Family and Korea Foundation Chair in Korean studies at the University of Iowa.
We wish her all the best and success in her future endeavors!
