Is modern feminism bringing the change we need?

Feminism has come a long way and has reshaped the world greatly. However, today we are still far from achieving gender equality. While significant progress can be observed in some areas, there are still barriers that remain mostly unchallenged. In this panel discussion, speakers will share their insights on some of these barriers and what can be done to overcome them.

Our panellists include:

  • Emeritus Professor Marian Sawer: Former Head of the Political Science Program, RSSS, ANU and Head, Democratic Audit of Australia.
  • Professor Margaret Thornton: Professor of Law at the ANU
  • Dr Rebecca Pearse: Postdoctoral Fellow, ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences

Registration is not required. All welcome. Refreshments will be provided.

This event is run by the ANU Circle for Gender Equity (ANU CGE) is a student society that aims to promote critical discussion around the role of gender, with a particular focus on development both nationally and internationally. They aim to provide educational events and facilitate conversation for not only students but the wider public for an all-inclusive and safe learning space.
