Louisa Haynes Le Freimann (1865-1956) - artist and theosophist

Born in Birmingham, England, the strongly non-conformist ‘forgotten’ artist Louisa Hayes Le Friemann escaped the social restrictions women faced during the Victorian era by migrating to Australia. After five years spent in Adelaide, where her most famous and controversial painting was completed, she moved to Sydney where she became a long-standing member of the Theosophical Society. In this lecture, hosted by Sydney Theosophical Society (Blavatsky Lodge), Professor Plummer will reveal the hidden history of this enigmatic Australian artist and theosophist.
