The importance of role models for women in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) at ANU

The issue of gender inequality in STEM fields has been the focus of much debate and concern for the academic community for many years. Although a significant amount of research has been undertaken on this issue, and on the use of role models in particular, there are still significant gaps in our understanding of how women in STEM choose role models, and what makes particular role models appealing to them.

Caroline Faulder has just completed an Honours in Science Communication looking at this issue, where her research has focused on how female STEM staff and students at ANU have used role models in their lives. Admission to this lecture is free.

Dinner will follow the lecture at the King O’Malleys. Please RSVP for the dinner via email laurenkelly1989@hotmail.com.
