Glass ceilings: Why are they persisting and what can we do about them?

In many countries, there is a gender wage gap that widens across the wage distribution. This finding - more pronounced in the private than the public sector - has been interpreted as a glass ceiling effect. What explains this effect and what policies could make a difference? This talk will address these issues.
