The first political order: some preliminary results from a Minerva Initiative-funded research project

Department of International Relations Seminar Series

This seminar will discuss findings from a 2014 Minerva Initiative grant from the US Department of Defense to investigate empirically the relationship between the security of women and the security of states. This presentation will lay out the theoretical framework, describe data collection and scaling efforts, and present preliminary (i.e., bivariate) findings.

Valerie M. Hudson is Professor and George H.W. Bush Chair at The Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University, where she directs the Program on Women, Peace, and Security. She is currently a Fulbright Distinguished Chair at ANU, housed in the Department of International Relations
