Coercive control is a topic that has come to light through high-profile cases of intimate partner violence. Numerous states within and beyond Australia have introduced specific criminal legislation to combat the problem. However, there is little evidence that the criminalisation of coercive control can prevent it, and many fear that it may put victims in further danger.
This Showcase, funded by the ANU Gender Institute, addresses coercive control from multi-disciplinary perspectives and includes the results of the first national poll of attitudes toward and understandings of the issue.
