Domestic violence: a panel discussion

The ANU Circle for Gender Equity is running their first event for 2016! This will be a panel discussion focusing on domestic violence, with both male and female speakers who specialise in advocating for the victims of domestic violence and the role of the justice system in the matter.

Speakers:

John Hinchey is the ACT Victims of Crime Commissioner, advocating for the interests of victims and ensuring the provision of efficient and effective services for victims. He was appointed as the ACT Domestic Violence Project Coordinator and chairs the ACT Family Violence Intervention Program Coordinating Committee. He is also a Board member of the Domestic Violence Crisis Service ACT and the ACT Victims Advisory Board.

Professor Patricia Easteal PhD AM is an academic, author, activist and advocate, best known for her research, publications and teaching in the area of women and the law. In 2010 she was made a Member of the Order of Australia 'For service to the community, education and the law through promoting awareness and understanding of violence against women, discrimination and access to justice for minority groups'.
