Deconstructing the HRAD bill: Do with it what you will

Gender Institute member Margaret Thornton has a longstanding interest and expertise in discrimination law. With particular regard to the ramifications for employment, this presentation will entail an overview and critique of the controversial exposure draft of the Human Rights and Anti- Discrimination Bill. It will also consider the report of the Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee and pay some attention to the tenor of the 600 public submissions. The dissonance surrounding the Bill will be analysed in light of the on-going animus towards anti-discrimination legislation. The presentation will conclude with some thoughts about the future of anti-discrimination legislation in Australia.

This is a free event open to the public.
