Damned whores and God's police; 40 years on

A three day conference and celebration to mark 40 years since the publication of the feminist classic Damned Whores and God's Police: The colonization of women in Australia.

Its impact. Its legacy. Our future.

Feminism and equality are back on the agenda and it is a good time to re-examine the findings of one of Australia’s key works of second-wave feminism, including asking whether those stereotypes are still constraining women today?

For readers, writers, academics, activists, practitioners, advocates, artists and anyone else with an interest in the subject.

The conference will include keynotes, papers, panels, activist sessions and expressions of women’s creativity.

Conference program, details and ticketing are avaiable here.
