In Conversation with Jocelyn Moorhouse

Meet the Author is delighted to be joining again with the National Film and Sound Archive for a Meet the Author event. Jocelyn Moorhouse will be in conversation with Alex Sloan on Jocelyn's new book,. A Memoir of Filmmaking and Motherhood, followed by a screening of Moorhouse's The Dressmaker at 7.15pm.

The Dressmaker Costume Exhibition at the NSFA will be specially open until 6pm that night and book signings with Jocelyn will be available from 530 pm.

Jocelyn Moorhouse, award-winning screenplay writer and film director, has directed numerous films, including ProofHow to Make an American QuiltA Thousand Acres and The Dressmaker. She has produced two films directed by her husband, P J Hogan: Muriel's Wedding and Mental.

Her new book, Unconditional Love is a beautiful and moving memoir of her successful career as a gifted scriptwriter and film director, as well as a maintaining a marriage and a family of four children. How did she do it? Meeting P.J. Hogan, becoming parents and filmmakers together was a turning point. But when they discovered that two of their children were autistic, Jocelyn's life turned upside down.

In Unconditional Love, she talks from the heart, with humour and intelligence, about her fears for her children, the highs and lows in her international career, about Hollywood and home, and about her love for what she does best-filmmaking and motherhood.

Alex Sloan AM was the 2017 Canberra Citizen of the Year. She retired from ABC radio after 27 years at the end of 2016 and is a regular conversationalist for ANU Meet the Author events.
