Conference: ‘Let’s Get Loud!’: Gender, Politics, ACTION

*Post event report by Hannah McCann and review in Lip magazine available below

A conference brought to you by the ANU Gender Institute and Vocal Majority.

Women’s rights are human rights and we cannot build a just society until gender equality is realized. What role could YOU play in ending women’s inequality?

'Let’s Get Loud’ is not a typical conference. As we tackle critical issues in women’s rights head on, you will not only hear from leading women’s rights commentators, you will also participate in intensive skills workshops and have the opportunity to form lasting connections with academics, nonprofit workers, students and activists. This will mean that when the conference ends, you will have the networks, skills and mentors that you need to take real action in advancing women’s rights.

The ANU Gender Institute and Vocal Majority have partnered to bring together NGOs, academics, students and activists to hear from experts who work every day to improve the lives of women and girls around the world.

You will learn about campaigning and activism from Australia’s leading social entrepreneurs. You will participate in forums that will help you draw linkages between global structures and your lived experience.  Keynote speakers include Anne Summers AO and Professor Hilary Charlesworth, with opportunities to undertake workshops with Clementine Ford and Anna Rose.  More information about the conference and our speakers on our facebook.

Cost: $15 students, $30 NGO/community sector employees, $40 full time wage earners (includes catering).
