Collective Action for Development and Justice: What's power and gender got to do with it?

Dr. Valerie Miller, a long-time development and human rights advocate, will present a series of frameworks and tools for examining the complexities of power and gender in work on inequality and social exclusion. Drawing on her more than 35 years of experience in Latin America, Africa and Asia in contexts ranging from revolution to dictatorship, she will build on concepts and approaches from her book, co-authored with Lisa VeneKlasen of Just Associates (JASS), A New Weave of Power, People and Politics, as well as her work with organizations such as Oxfam, Unicef, UNDP, ActionAid International, Plan International and social movements around the world.
