ANU Ally Network Wear It Purple Day Morning Tea

WEAR IT PURPLE DAY 2019

IT ALL STARTED WHEN…

Wear it Purple was founded in 2010 in response to global stories of real teenagers, real heartache and their very real responses. In 2010, several rainbow young people took their own lives following bullying and harassment resulting from the lack of acceptance of their sexuality or gender identity.

Each year Wear It Purple works incredibly hard to:

  • Advocate for and empower rainbow young people
  • Celebrate and promote the value of diversity and inclusion in all community setting
  • Raise awareness about sexuality, sex and gender identity and challenge harmful social cultures
  • Champion rainbow role-models to help young people establish the confidence to be who they are.

The ANU Respectful Relationships Unit as part of the ANU Ally Network would like to invite you to come along, share some morning tea and continue to promote inclusion and diversity whilst acknowledging the lived experiences of so many in our community is not always positive or supportive.

Spread the word and encourage others to register to attend this fun and relaxed event. We will be accepting donations on the day which will all go to Wear It Purple to support their ongoing work.

If you or anyone you know needs support you can find information here.
