Annual law week dinner

The Women Lawyers Association of the ACT invites you to the Annual Law Week Dinner, with special guest, Catherine McGregor AM. The Law Week Dinner is a unique opportunity for WLA members and friends to meet and enjoy a special evening together.

Catherine has a compelling personal narrative of survival in the face of personal challenges as well as insights into the design and implementation of strategic policy at a high level.

Catherine McGregor AM

Catherine McGregor is the Queensland Australian of the Year for 2016. She was awarded this honour for her service as an advocate for the transgender community and her wider contribution to the understanding of gender variance and diversity. 

She served as a military officer in both the Australian Regular Army and the Royal Australian Air Force. On Australia Day 2012 she was awarded the Order of Australia in the Military Division for her exceptional service to the Australian Army. She entered the Royal Military College Duntroon in 1974 and served on operations overseas including in command of the Training Team in East Timor. She affirmed her female gender in July 2012 and was the highest ranking transgender military officer in the world until her retirement.
