A 'space and time' to share and develop writing practice.

The writing mornings take place every Friday morning in the common room of the Commonwealth Solar Observatory (CSO) building at Mount Stromlo. The usual schedule includes optional time for peer review or meeting with writing partners/groups.

The CSO Common room is a large, quiet room with a gorgeous view of the Brindabellas, and plenty of tables, chairs and space for laptops. 

The schedule (people should feel free to arrive at any time):

• 8:30  -  10:30: Quiet writing time (come in, quietly grab a space, set up laptop, start writing!)
• 10:30 -  11:00: Coffee, peer review, and writing partner/group meetings (optional & can be longer)
• 11:00  - 12:30: Quiet writing time 
• 12:30 -          : BYO lunch to eat outside & enjoy the view or have lunch at the Scope cafe (2 mins walk). The cafe also does take away.

People often stay on to write into the afternoon.

Getting there:

Car: Mt Stromlo is a 15 minute drive from ANU campus, and is accessed from Cotter Road.  Take the Tuggeranong Parkway south from campus towards Woden/Tuggeranong.  Exit at Cotter Road, right onto Cotter road. Follow Cotter Road past the new residential areas (straight through the first intersection, left at the 2nd intersection), and take a right at the sign for Mt Stromlo Observatory and Scope Cafe.  Follow the signs towards  "RSAA administration".  Turn left on the road towards building 4 (see map attached below) and park (free) on the grass between building 4 and 7 on the top of the mountain.  Go towards reception/administration which is in building 6 (CSO admin building). The CSO common room is straight through the admin entrance, and through the courtyard.

Bus:  there is a Mt Stromlo bus from the main ANU campus that arrives in the morning (9am) and departs in the afternoon (5pm).  If you're interested in the bus, contact the organiser, Lisa Kewley for the schedule and pick up points.
