2020 International Women's Day panel - climate change

International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated annually on 8 March to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. To celebrate at ANU, a group of leading women will come together to share their expertise and leadership on this year's theme – climate change.

The panellists will include:

Vanessa Cavanagh, guest panellist from University of Wollongong, is an Aboriginal woman with Bundjalung and Wonnarua ancestry. Vanessa works in environmental conservation activities and is an Associate Lecturer in the School of Geography & Sustainable Communities, Faculty of Social Sciences.

Dr Bec Colvin, a social scientist and lecturer in the Resources, Environment & Development Program in the Crawford School of Public Policy. Her research interests include social-political conflict about issues to do with the environment, climate, and energy, and the role of the social identity in driving these conflicts.

Belinda Noble, guest panellist and specialist in climate change communication. Belinda was a TV news reporter and producer, and former head of media and communications at Australian Red Cross. She founded Comms4Climate and co-founded Communicators Declare.

Professor Nerilie Abram, an ARC Research Fellow at ANU who focuses on how the Earth’s climate has behaved over the last millennium and what that tells us about the climate changes we are seeing now.
