Event type: In conversation

Event date: Tuesday, 14 August 2018 - 6:15pm to 8:15pm

Event venue: Ann Harding Conference Centre, University of Canberra

YWCA Canberra's She Leads In-Conversation events provide Canberrans with the opportunity to hear from women leaders from different backgrounds and industries, in a conversational format, followed by a live Q&A session and networking.

Join us to hear from Michelle Law. The conversation will centre around finding your voice and how to trust it, practical ways to stay focused on your work and career, intersectional feminism, and the struggles women of colour face in leadership position.

Michelle Law is an award-winning writer and screenwriter whose previous speaking engagements include TEDx events, Woodford Folk Festival, writer’s festivals, ABC radio and The Project. Her stories and essays have been widely anthologized and her films have screened nationally at festivals and on the ABC. Michelle writes for magazines, journals, newspapers, film and television. She is the co-author of the comedy book, Sh*t Asian Mothers Say, and has had her work anthologised in books like Women of Letters and Destroying the Joint. Some of the places she’s written for include the Sydney Morning Herald, Daily Life, frankie magazine, and the Griffith Review. As a screenwriter, she has received an Australian Writer’s Guild AWGIE award for her interactive media work, and had her films screened on the ABC and at film festivals locally and abroad. She is currently working on her first stage play with La Boite Theatre Company.
