In an article for The Australian Gender Institute member, Dr Skye Saunders, has argued much more can be done to tackle sexual harassment in the workplace. Saunders points to some key problems in the handling of reporting, in particular, that many women fear their complaint will not be taken seriously or that they will be accused of causing trouble.
'When sexual harassment happens, women sense that they mustn’t make a fuss. Because no one likes a dobber in this country, particularly if it was all just a joke.'
