LECTURER IN GENDER STUDIES

Salary: $92,654 - $110,022 p.a. plus 17% superannuation
The School of Social and Political Sciences and the Faculty of Arts Gender Studies Program are currently seeking a Level B Lecturer in Gender Studies through the Melbourne Early Career Academic Fellowships program (MECAF). As an participant in the MECAF program, you will complete a structured development programme provided by the University within your workload allocation. This program will provide training, supervision and appropriate career and professional development opportunities towards establishing your academic career.
We are seeking applications from Gender Studies specialists with suitable research and teaching experience. The Lecturer in Gender Studies will be expected to research, teach and administer at levels commensurate with the level of the position. You will be expected to teach existing subjects at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and to develop new subjects for the Gender Studies Program as appropriate. Supervision of Honours, Masters coursework and RHD students is also a requirement. You will undertake research resulting in publications with leading publishers in the field and will apply for externally competitive grants. You will also be expected to foster engagement links with external networks nationally and internationally and will take on administrative tasks associated with the appointment.
Eligible candidates will have completed a PhD or other equivalent degree in Gender Studies, or in a closely allied discipline with a demonstrated specialisation in Gender Studies. All candidates who have previously held a permanent or continuing academic position are ineligible to apply.
You will be expected to commence teaching within the School in Semester 1 2016, or as soon as possible thereafter.
