Dr Natalie Williams awarded the ACT State Award for "Best Instrumental Piece of 2015"

Congratulations to one of our members, Dr Natalie Williams, lecturer in the ANU School of Music, who has won a prestigious award for one of her recent compositions. "Saudade," composed for a string octet and premiered in Sydney in 2015, was awarded the ACT State Award for "Best Instrumental Piece of 2015" at the Australian Music Centre, Art Music Awards. The piece was commissioned by Musica Viva, through the "Hildegard Project," - a commissioning initiative specifically supporting the work of Australian women composers. You can read more about the award in an article published by the City News.

The same piece was also recently awarded the "Judith Lang Zaimont Prize for an extended instrumental composition" from the International Alliance of Women in Music.
