Australian Government Guidelines on the Recognition of Sex and Gender

In June 2013 the Australian Government issued guidelines about the best way to ask people about their gender.

Surveys and other forms requesting to identify gender should include the following options:

M (male), F (female) or X (Indeterminate/Intersex/Unspecified)

It would be great if these options were to be adopted in all new surveys/forms and slowly retrofitted in existing ones as well.

For more information and to downlaod the full guidelines document visit the Attorney-General's Department website.
