Australian Government Boards (Gender Balanced Representation) Bill 2015 - submissions now open

The Australian Government Boards (Gender Balanced Representation) Bill 2015, co-sponsored by Senator Nick Xenophon, Senator Larissa Waters of the Australian Greens, and Independent Senators Jacqui Lambie and Glenn Lazarus, has now been referred to the Senate Finance and Public Administration Committee for inquiry and submissions are now open. The bill will require Commonwealth officials making appointments for Government boards to ensure each board is comprised of at least 40% women, and at least 40% men. The Act will also require each portfolio Department prepare an annual report relating to the gender composition of their Government boards.
