2016 ACT violence prevention awards

The ACT Office for Women is seeking nominations for the ACT Violence Prevention Awards. Formerly known as the Partners in Prevention Awards, these awards recognise contributions to best practice in partnerships, innovations and activities that create awareness of gendered based violence and/or work to prevent violence and sexual assault against women and children in the ACT.

The ACT Violence Prevention Awards specifically recognise partnerships, innovations and activities in the following areas:

  • Media,
  • Sports,
  • Private sector, and/or
  • Education.

Nominating

Nominations are being received online. To submit a nomination go to https://dhcs.smartygrants.com.au/2016ACTViolencePreventionAwards

One nomination is all it takes — multiple nominations for the same person/group do not necessarily strengthen the chance of selection. Self-nominations will be accepted.When submitting a nomination through the SmartyGrants website please ensure all contact details are correct. Please also be aware it is possible to attach additional information to support the nomination, such as personal references, resumes and newspaper articles.

Categories

1. Projects

Projects, programs and/or activities where one or more agencies or people have  collaborated to develop innovative approaches, contributing to building a community where women and children are free from violence.

2. Individuals

Individuals, philanthropists and volunteers who have collaborated to use innovative approaches, contributing to building a community where women and children are free from violence.

Selection Criteria

Nominees will be assessed against their demonstrated contribution to the following area:

  • The individual, project or activity has made an outstanding contribution to engage or collaborate with areas of the private sector, community groups, government, nongovernmental organisations and/or individuals in new or innovative ways to prevent violence against women and children in our community, especially in areas that would not normally engage with the issue of domestic violence.

Awards Timeline

Nominations will close on 5pm, Tuesday 26 April.

The ACT Violence Prevention Awards assessment panel will provide recommendations to the Minister for Women for consideration in May 2016.

The ACT Violence Prevention Awards will be announced in June 2016.
